Do you have any learners who need some work with those tricky final stable syllables? This write & read pack has been super helpful for my own third grader!
Working on reading words with the 6 syllable types is helpful in teaching learners how to decode multi-syllable words. Of all the syllable types, though, I think the final c + le is the trickiest for readers. At least that’s been my experience as a reading tutor and homeschooling mom of two struggling readers.
Final Stable Syllables – Write & Read Pack
So I created a simple way to help learners practice those final stable syllables with these write & read activities.
The first activity in this pack are the write and read cards. These are great to use with a small group or one-on-one with learners.
I recommend laminating, cutting them out, and then hole-punching them in the top corner so you can make a flip book.
Learners use a dry erase marker to finish the word using either -ble, -cle, -dle, -fle, -gle, -kle, -ple, -sle, -tle, or -zle. {4 cards are included for each final stable syllable listed here.} Then they read the word.
Five NO PREP pages are also included in the pack. Once again, learners finish the word by adding the final stable syllable, then read the word aloud.
